IHF was founded in 1946 tooversee internationalcompetitions. Headquartered in Basel, itsmembership now comprisesof 209 national federations. Each membercountry is also a part ofone of the six regional confederations:Africa, Asia, Europe, NorthAmerica and Caribbean, Oceania, andSouth and Central America.
